Accounts
Guernsey is outside the NHS. We strongly recommend medical insurance for general practice to ease the burden of unexpected financial outlay and remove one concern about seeing the doctor. Details of the various schemes are available at reception. The doctors can advise you if necessary. Do remember that if you wait until you are ill, some insurance companies may refuse or restrict your cover.
If you have an account query or you are experiencing financial difficulty, please ask for a member of the accounts staff, based at St. Sampson's Medical Centre, who will discuss the problem with you in the strictest confidence (Tel: 243203).
The link to our current fees is at the bottom of this page.
Practice Manager
Mrs. Heather Gibbs (pictured) is our practice manager and she is in charge of the administration and efficient running of the practice. She will be pleased to help you with problems in this area.
Complaints and Suggestions
We aim to provide a high quality service and are very interested in hearing how this could be improved.
If you have any suggestions for improving the way the practice operates, please put them in writing, fax or e-mail addressed to Mrs. Heather Gibbs, Practice Manager, St Sampsons Medical Centre, Grande Maisons Road, St Sampson's, Guernsey, GY2 4JS. Suggestion boxes are also placed in the reception area at both surgeries.
Furthermore, if you are unhappy with any aspect of our service or your treatment, please contact the practice manager or your doctor, who will be happy to listen to your suggestions or criticisms.
Complaints should be made to the practice manager who will refer the matter to the doctor or member of staff concerned and to the practice chairman. There is an independent complaints committee, including non-medical persons, organised through the BMA in the event of an unsatisfactory response from the Practice.
If you have a complaint or suggestion please send us an email, or contact us in writing at our postal address which is on our contact page.
Notice to patients re medical records
Should the need arise, patient's medical records may be shared with other professionals involved in patient care. Sharing of medical information will be under the following guidelines as published in the Data protection (Bailiwick of Guernsey) law, 2001.
The processing is necessary for medical purpose and is undertaken by a). a health professional; or b). a person who in the circumstances owes a duty of confidentiality which is equivalent to that which would arise if that person were a health professional.
"Medical purpose" includes the purposes of preventative medicine, medical diagnosis, medical research, the provision of care and treatment and the management of healthcare services.
Should you wish to make a complaint, the practice may need to provide information about you, or the treatment you have received, to insurers or legal advisors.
If you have any queries please speak to Mrs Heather Gibbs (practice manager) or your doctor.
