Health Visitors / Child Development
Our
Health Visitors are involved in promoting health within the community and offer
health advice and support to all age groups. In particular, they visit families
with children under five years of age. Monitoring children's health starts with

Children need several immunisations starting at 2 months of age. These prevent potentially serious diseases - Polio, Tetanus, Diphtheria, HIB, Whooping Cough, Measles, Mumps and Rubella. The pre-school immunisations are free, being funded by the Board of Health.
There is also a 15 year booster which we combine with a general health check. Tetanus boosters are recommended every 10 years. These are available from the Practice Nurse.
